Viterra offers seasonal storage and handling work throughout South Australia during the grain harvest period for people seeking casual employment from September to February, subject to location and weather. Applicants will receive updates on availability where possible.
Three types of casual roles are available: Bulk Grain Handlers, Weighbridge Operators and Grain Classifiers.

Bulk Grain Handler
Bulk grain handling employees make up the majority of Viterra's harvest workforce. They perform a variety of roles using harvest equipment and machinery, particularly to unload grain-carrying trucks at the silo. This position is hands-on and suits someone who enjoys working in a team environment. Employees receive extensive training to ensure they can do the job safely.

Weighbridge Operator
The weighbridge operator is responsible for the front-line of customer service. The primary role is to weigh grain trucks before and after being unloaded. The operator is required to accurately enter data into a computer relating to each load that has been received. This position suits people with previous front-line customer service experience, good communication skills and data entry skills.

Grain Classifier
Grain classifiers are responsible for assessing characteristics of grain to determine an appropriate classification. Employees receive extensive training in the classification process, including the characteristics of grain, and usually work in a team of classifiers. Until fully trained they work under the guidance of a senior classifier. This position suits a hands-on person who has an eye for detail. The ability to remain calm under pressure is an advantage, as are data entry skills and previous customer service experience.
