2011/12 Storage and Handling Plan
Site Safety
Viterra introduced a safety induction program on 1 October 2011 to ensure the highest level of safety for all visitors and employees at its sites in Australia and New Zealand. Growers, carriers and their passengers accessing a Viterra site must demonstrate they have successfully completed Viterra's safety induction by presenting a Viterra Safety Card. They must also wear personal protective equipment when accessing a site. For more information, please visit the Site Safety page.
Site Operating Hours
Viterra is continuing to develop supply chain and logistics strategies to ensure efficiencies and enable all grower receival sites to remain open for as long as possible. Operating hours are constantly reviewed and grain is directed to specific sites to ensure a smooth harvest.
During harvest, site operating hours are regularly updated on ezigrain. Where possible, SMS alerts are sent to growers in the event of changed site opening hours due to unforeseen circumstances. To register to receive SMS alerts, please call the Viterra Service Centre on 1800 018 205.
Provision of Information
Warehouse disclosure
Growers are able to "opt in" to have information about their warehoused grain disclosed to other grain marketers. To opt in, please complete the Warehouse Disclosure Authority Form and return it via fax to (08) 8410 3105 or mail to Warehouse Disclosure Authority, Viterra Service Centre, GPO Box 1169, Adelaide SA 5001.
Information from growers who have opted in - including name, address, phone number, commodity, site and tonnages of grain stored - will be provided to grain marketers on a weekly basis. This information will be provided to registered grain marketers until you advise Viterra otherwise. If you choose not to disclose this information, Viterra will maintain your privacy
Quality site data
Quality site data for standard grades is publically available on ezigrain and will be updated daily during harvest.
Shipping statistics
Viterra has made available more detailed information on the shipping stem by listing the type of commodity booked by a client and publishing when a vessel is named on stem, including the date and time. Furthermore, monthly tonnages shipped from Viterra's ports are available under shipping statistics on the Port Access and Shipping Stem page. These statistics are broken down into port zone and commodity.
Segregation Plan
Viterra aims to accommodate the majority of varieties of wheat, barley and other grains and pulses through its segregations.
We will have some carryover stock coming into this year's harvest. Shipping movements will continue over the next months and we are actively consolidating stock. Site and segregation availability will be adjusted in line with grain out turns and in consultation with Strategic Silo Committees.
Segregations undergo continuous modification throughout the harvest period. Ezigrain will be regularly updated with the latest segregation information. Alternatively, please contact the Service Centre on free call 1800 018 205.
Service Fees
Details of Viterra's 2011/12 Warehousing Storage and Handling Service Fees are available on the Warehousing page.
Export Select
Export Select is a significant contributor to managing an efficient accumulation and logistics operation in a deregulated environment. It will remain as an important tool to ensure the efficient movement of grain from up-country sites to export terminals.
If growers want to retain physical ownership up-country (eg. for domestic outturn), it is important the site they deliver to is not designated as Export Select-only for the commodity or grade being delivered. Otherwise, grain can be marketed in the normal manner.
Under Export Select, grain that is received into up-country sites will be transferred back to owners at the port. Viterra will manage the movement of grain from the sites to export position.
Marketers who wish to maintain ownership up-country and manage their own logistics will continue to have access to the Export Standard model (in non-Export Select-only sites).
While Export Select will be available at all sites, it is important to note that various sites around South Australia will be designated Export Select-only. This is about ensuring a smooth operation both at harvest and in clearing sites, and results in cost savings for the marketer and, ultimately, the grower. A list of Export Select-only sites is contained within the Receival Service & Warehousing Terms and Conditions, which is available on the Warehousing page.
Freight Rates
Viterra Export Select freight rates are reviewed and supplied on a monthly basis. The Export Select freight rates are available on the Export Select page.
