Viterra is committed to providing annual Performance Check and VAST data from our local test sites across Western Canada, in order to provide producers with the information they need to make a confident seeding decision.


VAST - Viterra Agronomic System Trials


Introduced in 2011, the VAST canola trials provide an opportunity to plan 6 canola hybrids in head-to-head comparisons in 10 acre field scale trials.



The Viterra Performance Check Program


Every product is rigorously tested as part of our extensive development process. From Sexsmith, AB to Rosthern, SK to Rosebank, MB, Viterra tests more seed varieties across a wide range of conditions and geographies than anyone else in the industry. This extensive and unbiased Viterra Performance Check program screens seed varieties for yield and agronomic performance including:

  • Disease and insect tolerance

  • Maturity

  • Performance adaptability to specific

  • Herbicide tolerant systems

  • Stress tolerance and lodging

  • End-use traits required by our destination customers – leading global food manufacturers

The Viterra Performance Check program evaluates the superior quality attributes customers are looking for. Varieties are assessed to ensure confidence in bringing new varieties to market, which will help farmers  produce consistent quality ingredients that meet the product specifications of leading global food manufacturers around the world.
