Strategies for Successful Farming: Sharing Knowledge with Growers

As part of that commitment, Viterra hosts a series of annual conferences entitled “Strategies for Successful Farming” to help farmers plan for the upcoming growing season.  This year’s events, held in eleven communities across Western Canada, attracted approximately 1,000 farmers.

These day-long conferences feature sessions on topics identified by growers as important to their business, including grain marketing, agronomy and farm business management.  It is Viterra’s firm belief that this exchange of information makes both our growers more successful and Viterra more effective in meeting their needs.

This year’s events featured a major focus on grain marketing and risk management as farmers prepare for changes to the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) marketing system on August 1, 2012.
Other sessions focused on:

  • World grain market outlooks
  • Fertility management
  • Crop diagnostics
  • Disease management
  • Weed management and resistance
  • Grain export challenges

This year’s conferences were extremely well received by growers, with an average rating of 8.53 out of 10.
