As part of our commitment to the environment, Viterra promotes the responsible stewardship of our own operations, facilities, and assets.  In order to reduce our environmental footprint, we now have various environmental management programs and protocols in place.

Our Company demonstrates its commitment to Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) through its adoption and strict adherence to a robust SH&E policy.  We operate in compliance with a rigorous regulatory framework and in a manner consistent with current industry best practices.  The Guiding Principles within the Policy codify the procedures by which we meet our SH&E commitments.

Our SH&E system sets out a fully integrated plan to prevent injuries, to protect against negative health impacts and to minimize the environmental effects of our Company through the identification, assessment and control of hazards, as well as through employee education, awareness and alignment with program requirements.  This system applies to all Viterra personnel, property, facilities, equipment, operations, processes, materials and wastes.

The system’s continuous Performance Enhancement Plan provides company-wide leading safety indicators with real-time performance transparency.  All supervisory levels within Operations have undergone formal training of the SH&E system, commitment and obligations, and our Company utilizes facility audits as learning opportunities to improve employee knowledge through self-assessment and on-site coaching.  This approach, in combination with the continual updating of our SH&E targets within our employee performance management system, fosters a strong SH&E culture of continual improvement through individual performance and operational practices.  Read more about our recent SH&E performance.
