Viterra and STARS

Viterra is pleased to continue its partnership with STARS Air Ambulance to sponsor its 2021 fundraising calendar. Viterra has sponsored the STARS calendar campaign since 2015 by covering the full printing costs of each of the more than 70,000 calendars sold across Western Canada every year.

“At Viterra we recognize the critical importance of first responders and the inspirational work they do on the front lines to help people every day,” said Kyle Jeworski, President and CEO of Viterra North America.  “Viterra and STARS have worked together for several years, and through the strength of our continued partnership, we’re pleased to do our part to help make a difference in the lives of patients in rural communities across Western Canada.”

2021 Calendars are now available at most Viterra grain elevator locations until Friday, December 4.

To adhere to current safety protocols, calendars will be available for pick-up at our facilities, but all merchandise orders must be made online. Our facilities are open on an appointment only basis, so please call ahead to book an appointment. Accepted methods of payment include e-transfer, cash ticket deduction, and credit card (via online ordering). Donations can also be made online at stars.ca.

Adair O’Grady has spent the first day of seeding with his father for the last 30 years—it’s one of the most exciting times on the farm.

But excitement quickly turned into Adair’s worst nightmare.

“I was on the ground dialing in the air seeder — unaware I was in a blind spot — and was inadvertently run over by a service truck.”

Struggling to breathe with broken bones and a punctured lung, Adair remembers being in the back of the STARS helicopter, wondering if he would survive.

His flight paramedic and nurse gave him the hope and encouragement he needed to fight for his life.

“I’m amazed by the gifted individuals at STARS who put their hearts into their work. As I watch my children and my crops grow, I’m incredibly grateful.”

Its stories like Adair’s that encourage our team at Viterra to support the vital, life-saving service that STARS provides on a daily basis.

“STARS provides such an important service and our annual calendar campaign shows how communities will come together to support a worthy cause,” said Nikki Deobald-Churchman, Facility Sales and Admin at Viterra Rosetown.

Over the years, STARS has touched the lives of Viterra employees, customers, and their families. This partnership helps ensure that STARS can continue to provide immediate medical attention in critical situations.

“It’s reassuring to know that this service is available to us in case we ever need it, especially in rural Saskatchewan,” says Nikki.

Help support STARS by donating or purchasing your 2021 STARS calendar and merchandise at your local Viterra facility, or online at www.starscalendar.ca.
